Welcombe
Community Shop Association Ltd
The
Volunteer Staff
Welcombe
Shop is staffed almost exclusively by volunteers. Without their selfless dedication
and commitment, the shop would not be possible. We'd
like to introduce them to you:-
Kirsty
Rosser who
works in the shop on alternate Thurdays.
Carolyn
Porter 'holding the fort' on alternate Mondays.
Photos
of the other volunteers coming soon.
Angela
Horswill says "I find it very useful having a shop in the village
again, so that I can go a short distance to fetch milk and other groceries rather
than it be about a
15 mile round trip.
As a volunteer I particularly enjoy the social aspect of meeting fellow villagers
to catch up and share our news while they shop.
The positive feed back from all our customers both locals and holiday makers
makes giving my time as a volunteer feel very worthwhile. My regular slot is
Friday morning, other than this I am prepared to provide emergency cover, and
have provided cover for other volunteers when they have been on holiday."

"Through no fault of Mervyn's
(he took the photo), I think this photograph might well deter anyone from entering
the shop ever. It might just be that I need a new face. Glenda is a complete
star and makes working in the shop good fun. It is also a great pleasure to
see local faces and meet visitors, and to have conversations which create a
genuine feeling of community. I hope everyone will support us."
We are still in need
of more volunteers to work in the shop to give Glenda a day off from time to
time and to be able to extend the opening hours. Please do think about offering
to help out. You don't need to commit to a regular 'slot' every week and even
as little as 2 hours at a time is very helpful. If you are still having doubts
or are concerned about what's involved, have a chat to one of the existing volunteers
and they'll tell you it's fun, sociable and not too hard. Please 'phone the
shop 01288 331763 or Glenda on 01288 331464
